AANS Accepting Applications for International Visiting Surgeons Fellowship
The AANS is now accepting applications for the 2008 AANS International Visiting
Surgeons
Fellowship. This fellowship is an effort by the AANS to assist colleagues
in developing countries
with an educational experience at a North American
Neurosurgical Training Program. The length
of the fellowship is typically three
months, and recipients receive a monthly stipend of $1250 plus
round-trip coach
air fare to the fellowship location.
Applicants must be neurosurgeons or neurosurgeons-in-training in a developing
country as
defined by the World Bank (list included in links below). Applicants
should be on staff at a
local hospital (and preferably medical school) involved
in neurosurgical patient care and
neurosurgical education.
Please consider developing an educational plan to study for up to three
months at a
Neurosurgical Training Program of your choice in North America,
or pass this information on to
an eligible neurosurgery colleague in a developing
country.

- Intent to Apply Form due to AANS: October 31, 2007
- Applications and ALL documents due to AANS: December 31, 2007
- Recipient(s) announced: March 1, 2008
- Fellowship must begin by: March 1, 2009
